6 Hour Sandcasting Intensive: Wear Your Inner Demon
Demons. We all have them. Have you ever thought about what yours looks like?
In this one day workshop, we will explore what we think our inner demons look like by carving a small sheet of wax and then sand casting it in silver into a pendant. Perhaps the best way to exorcise demons is to make them real.
What?
The class will begin with an introduction to wax carving for jewelry with a heavy focus on layout techniques. We will then saw, file, and carve your demon for about 4 hours, and then spend the last 2 hours casting, cleaning up, and polishing your work.
What’s included?
All studio materials, up to 15g silver, and the necessary jump rings for attachment. Chain is not included but may be available for purchase.
Can we cast stones in place and generally experiment?
No. The focus of this class will be on carving demon heads, we will not go down the experimental rabbit holes.
Who is this class for?
It is designed for the beginner, but if you have some experience or have taken our mega sand casting class, this is a great opportunity to focus on improving skills and technique, and make an awesome demon head.
Do I have to prepare anything ahead?
Yes, it is best if you come with a simple line drawing of your demon between 1.5x1.5cm and maximum 3.5cm round. You can hand draw this, or take inspiration from available images on the internet. It will be best if you email us images ahead to make sure they will work, and we can print for you if necessary.
