Metal Atelier Values

At Metal Atelier, we believe that how something is made and what materials are used is just as important as how it looks.

Production

The majority of our collection is individually produced using the ancient sand cast technique in a beautifully dusty and cozy atelier in the shadow of the former Berlin Wall. Work produced from the lost wax method is done in a local family owned and run casting house. Everything is designed, fabricated, and finished in Berlin, nothing is outsourced abroad nor mass produced.

Metals

We alloy all metals in house using only recycled materials from a Berlin based vendor. All of our scrap is in turn either recycled by us into the next collections or sent to a refiner. Our chains and findings come from a mix of US and European vendors, and with very few exceptions are all made of recycled material. It is our goal to use 100% recycled materials by mid 2024. Most of our collection can be offered in Fairtrade Gold or Silver at a slight surcharge in price.

Stones

All diamonds are sourced from vendors compliant with the Kimberly Accord. Because we work primarily with smaller stones, none currently come with GIA certification. Our coloured stones are sourced from German and US industry leaders who work directly with mines and cutting centers. If you would like to customize a piece with a larger diamond or sapphire, we are happy to source fully traceable mine to market or reclaimed stone options for you.

Politics

Although many would digress that politics should be kept out of running a small business, we disagree and maintain a strict policy of no fascism, sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, or general right wing ideology.
